When and where do you see clients?

I accept new clients on Thursdays. The first appointment is at 9am and the last appointment for the day is at 5pm. Sessions last 50 minutes. I currently see counseling clients virtually via a HIPAA-compliant platform and in person in Cumming, GA.

What Payments do you accept?

My counseling sessions are private pay and payable at the time of service. I accept PayPal, Venmo, and Zelle. I do not bill insurance directly.

What is your theoretical orientation to counseling?

My style is highly interpersonal in process, and I draw heavily from humanistic approaches. However, much of how I work with clients integrates a wide variety of orientations. It’s like creating a new theory for each individual.

For mental health professionals, are sessions considered counseling or supervision?

Short answer: Sessions with me are counseling. In counseling sessions, many people want to work on developing professionally. That could be true for mental health professionals as well. In that respect, the line between counseling and supervision is a little blurry. However, my focus is on you and not your clients.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE FIRST COUNSELING SESSION?

In our first 50 minutes together, I want to learn about you, hear your story, and understand why you made the decision to come to counseling. We’ll build goals for our time together and discuss a plan and process for getting there. Speaking of goals, my overall goal in our first session is to create a space you feel valued, honored, and open.

I start with listening. Showing compassion and empathy. Creating a space where you can tell your story without judgement. I don’t know your story, your pain, your struggles or shame or disappointments, but I do know peace can be found in the healing process.

how long until i start to see results?

Counseling is not a one-size-fits-all process. In our first session together, we will devise a plan based on your needs and goals for seeking personal or couples counseling. Initially, many clients find value in meeting weekly as we build trust and take steps towards working on our developed plan.

Due to empathetic listening and understanding, some clients experience feelings of relief after the first counseling session. However, keep in mind that the process is different for everyone. Lasting changes take time to take hold.
